The Best Cherry Pie Recipe

Ingredients: 1. 4 cups fresh cherries, pitted 2. 1 cup granulated sugar 3. 1/4 cup cornstarch 4. 1/4 teaspoon almond extract 5. 1 tablespoon lemon juice 6. 2 9-inch pie crusts (store-bought or homemade) 7. 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small piece

Instructions: 1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a large mixing bowl, combine the pitted cherries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, almond extract, and lemon juice. Gently toss until the cherries are evenly coated.

Roll out one of the pie crusts and line a 9-inch pie dish with it. Trim any excess dough hanging over the edges.

Pour the cherry filling into the prepared pie crust. Dot the filling with small pieces of butter.

Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the cherry filling. Trim any excess dough and crimp the edges to seal the pie.

Using a sharp knife, make several small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.

Place the pie on a baking sheet (to catch any drips) and bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 1 hour before slicing and serving.
