Perfect Gravy Recipe

Ingredient 3 tbsp. unsalted butter 3 tbsp. all-purpose flour 1 c. turkey pan dripping 1 c. (or more) low-sodium chicken broth or turkey stock 1 tsp. chopped fresh sage 1 tsp. chopped fresh thyme – Kosher salt – Freshly ground black pepper

Begin by melting butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.

Whisk in flour and continue cooking, whisking constantly, until the mixture turns golden brown, which typically takes about 1 minute.

Gradually whisk in the pan drippings. If you have more than 1 cup of drippings, use them up and adjust the amount of broth accordingly.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Allow it to simmer, stirring occasionally, until it slightly thickens, approximately 5 minutes.

Next, whisk in the broth, sage, and thyme, and bring the mixture back to a simmer. Season with salt and pepper according to taste preferences.

Continue cooking the gravy, stirring occasionally, and gradually adding more broth if needed to achieve the desired consistency.

This process typically takes about 10 minutes for the flavors to meld together and reach the desired thickness.

Once the gravy has reached the desired consistency and the flavors have melded, it is ready to serve alongside your favorite dishes.
