HOW TO CUT OPEN AND EAT A POMEGRANATE

Choose a ripe pomegranate that feels heavy and has a deep red color. Wash the pomegranate thoroughly under running water.

Cut off the crown of the pomegranate with a sharp knife. Score the skin of the pomegranate from top to bottom with a knife.

Gently pull the pomegranate apart into halves or quarters. Fill a large bowl with water and submerge the pomegranate pieces.

Use your fingers to gently separate the seeds from the white membrane. The seeds will sink to the bottom of the bowl while the membrane floats to the top.

Remove the membrane with a spoon or strainer. Drain the seeds and pat them dry with a paper towel.

Enjoy the pomegranate seeds as a snack or use them in salads, smoothies, or desserts. Store any leftover seeds in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
