Easy Homemade Scones Recipe

Ingredients: – 2 cups all-purpose flour – 1/4 cup granulated sugar – 1 tablespoon baking powder – 1/2 teaspoon salt – 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces – 1/2 cup milk – 1 large egg – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well combined.

Add the cold butter pieces to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms. If using add-ins, gently fold them into the dough at this stage.

Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together. Be careful not to overwork the dough.

Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick. Using a sharp knife or a biscuit cutter, cut the dough into scones of your desired size and shape.

Bake the scones in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.

Once baked, remove the scones from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.
